The chuck wagon, invented by Charles Goodnight, was a symbol of the free graze era and an essential part of any ranching outfit.  

 


Tin Cans: Round & Square
 Left can held 3 gallons of lard or other liquid. May have been bought to place home-rendered lard into. 4 small holes in lid.

 Right can is a square tin can with a  round recessed lid. 2 handles at diagonal corners for lifting. No markings or labels.

Water Barrow & Tin Can
 Round wooden water barrel with metal bands. Top is wood, permanantly attached. In center of the lid is a 7" X 6" hinged lid and there are two iron strips bolted to top on each side of the lid..

 Lard can - Large tin container, probably 5 gallon size, used to hold home-rendered lard.  Tight-fitting lid, also tin.  Dark blue.  Wire handle on either side, just below lid.
